Abdullah Ali Al Busaidi is a mechanical engineering graduate. He worked in the petroleum engineering field for nine years and later served as a Local vendor Development team leader, focusing on enhancing local value-added initiatives for three years. Currently, he holds the position DG of Oman Logistic Center and Zero Carbon Manager at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.
He is also the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Omani Society of Engineers and a member of the Gulf Engineering Union Council. Additionally, he represents the Sultanate in the Environment Committee of the Arab Engineers Union
Muhammad Shayea Al-Hajri currently works as a senior manager in one of SABIC’s companies. He has 15 years in the petrochemical manufacturing sector and holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in supply chain management and logistical support. He worked in many operating departments, starting as a production engineer, and has experience in financial management, quality control, risk management, project management, manufacturing process improvement, and led many projects related to increasing production and improving reliability.
Dr. Sandeep Sarkar is the founder of India’s first ceramic membrane manufacturing company. With nearly 20 years of research in material science, he holds a PhD in Metal-Oxide Membrane Engineering (IEM, Montpellier, France) and is a Chemical Engineer (JU, Kolkata India). Dr. Sarkar served as a Senior Scientist for the Government of India for over 11 years before establishing his company. He is the inventor of a low-cost capillary ceramic membrane, making advanced and expensive membrane technology affordable for cost-conscious markets like India. He has numerous international research publications and patents in the field of ceramic membranes, significantly advancing the technology and its applications across various industries.
M. Ramaswamy earned Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India in Mechanical Engineering. He got over 38 years of combined extensive experiences in various areas of Engineering in India and Oman. His last assignment was a Technical Expert to Government of Oman. Before coming to Oman he worked in Government of India in Delhi. He has designed few of largest utility plants in South East Asia. He has published more than 100 research papers in international journals and conferences and authored six books on engineering subjects. He is in the visiting faculty and in the Technical advisory board of various technical universities in India and Oman. He has guided many PhD students. He is member of various international professional organizations holding charter engineer status from U. K and India. He is the reviewer and editorial board member of many international technical journals. He has delivered more than 100 key note lectures in various international conference and meeting. His name is listed in WHOSWHO directory of Renewables from MENAT region. Also his name is listed in Montreal Protocol WHOSWHO site as an appreciation of his work on ODS. He was the president of one of Indian Community Schools in Oman.
Ahmed Saif Khamis Al Mazrouy boasts an extensive 31-year career in the oil, gas, electricity, and business management sectors. With seven years of dedicated service at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in oil, gas, and electricity, he has gained significant expertise in these fields. Ahmed has also held the position of CEO for 12 years in the electrical and water sectors, demonstrating his leadership and strategic vision. His experience extends to the manufacturing industry, where he served as a General Manager for two years. Additionally, Ahmed is an Advisory Board Member at several academic institutions, sharing his wealth of knowledge and insights. As a freelancer and the chairman of AEC, he continues to contribute to the industry with his broad expertise and leadership.
Dr. Talal Al-Wahaibi is the Dean of the College of Engineering at A’Sharqiyah University and a member of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA) board. Previously, he was the Director of Innovation Sectors at the Industrial Innovation Center (IIC), a governmental entity under Madain. Dr. Al-Wahaibi has also served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Petroleum and Chemical Engineering and as the Assistant Dean of Research at Sultan Qaboos University.
His research focuses on two-phase flows for energy and process engineering applications, with approximately 100 scientific publications in these areas. Dr. Al-Wahaibi has supervised 13 M.S. students and 7 Ph.D. students. He holds a BS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University, an MS degree from the University of Tulsa, and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University College London
Dr. Mohammed Al-Abri is a leading figure in nanotechnology, water treatment, membrane technology, and environmental engineering. His work has advanced these fields while championing sustainability and circular economy principles. As an Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Oman and the Founding Director of the Nanotechnology Research Center, Dr. Al-Abri leads innovative projects to develop sustainable solutions.
With over 35 major research projects, Dr. Al-Abri’s work encompasses membrane distillation, nanomaterial synthesis, and circular economy practices such as membrane reuse and recycling. His laboratory specializes in membrane and nanomaterial production, essential for efficient water treatment. Notably, his commitment to sustainability is evident through a patent application on membrane recycling, highlighting his dedication to resource efficiency.
Dr. Al-Abri’s extensive publication record includes over 95 journal papers and numerous conference presentations, contributing significantly to nanotechnology, water treatment, and environmental engineering. His research has improved water treatment processes and opened possibilities in various industries. He actively promotes circular economy principles, collaborating with industry partners and advising on resource optimization and waste reduction. His involvement with the Oman Water Society drives positive change in water-related sustainability practices.
Recognized for his contributions, Dr. Al-Abri received the first Arab Water Council Award for Creativity and Innovation in 2021 and his team has won multiple National Research Awards. His groundbreaking research, sustainability commitment, and influential leadership continue to shape the future of nanotechnology and environmental engineering, inspiring progress towards a more sustainable world.
Currently serving as Full Professor in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, College of Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). I have received my Bachelor’s degree from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Pakistan, and MS and Ph.D. degrees, all in Mechanical Engineering, from University of Minnesota, USA. I have been actively engaged in research and consulting work with various national and international organizations. I am leading the Applied Mechanics and Advanced Materials Research Group in Sultan Qaboos University. My research interests are in CAE, FEM, Composite Materials, Solid Expandable Tubulars and Swellable Elastomers. My current research work is on material homogenization, trauma modeling and energy related works. Previously, I have served as an Associate Editor / member of editorial board for The Journal of Engineering Research, IJMD and NED University Journal of Engineering and Disaster Journal. I have given invited talk on Solid Expandable Tubulars in many technical conferences and forums. I am actively serving the engineering community through reviewing conference/journal publications and research proposals, delivering short courses and workshops, presenting seminars, and giving invited talks. I have received Outstanding Faculty Award, Best paper awards and Best Researcher award in 1999, 2004, 2005 and 2008. A part from teaching, research and consultancy, I have actively participated in developing new engineering programs and its accreditation process. Notable achievements in this are the establishment of Kulliyyah of Engineering at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) with programs in Manufacturing Engineering and Mechantronics Engineering. Later, I have chaired the committees to establish (curriculum and laboratories) for Materials Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Aerospace Engineering programs. I was also a core member in scripting the blueprint for the development of Malaysian Aerospace Industry in collaboration with France. I was instrumental in accreditation of engineering programs in both IIUM and SQU specially focusing on Continuous Quality Improvement Process. I have presented various papers related to accreditation in various conferences and conducted 2-5 days workshops on accreditation to eight different universities in Middle East countries. I served as a member of Quality Assurance Committee to look at the establishment of Oman Research Council. Most recently, I have chaired the college of Engineering and later the Mechanical Engineering Program committees to modernize the curricula in response to emerging and future technical trends.
Prof. Farouq S. Mjalli received his doctorate (PhD) in 2003 from the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Aston, Birmingham UK. He joined the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Department of Petroleum & Chemical Engineering in 2010 . Prior to that, Prof. Mjalli held several academic positions at Qatar University and the University of Malaya. His main field of research includes investigating alternative energy sources, fuel treatment technologies, as well as the synthesis, characterization, and use of green solvents in different industrial aspects. Prof. Mjalli has published more than 200 journal articles and technical papers, more than 10 patents, and participated in many international and regional conferences. He is the recipient of the SQU Best Researcher Award for the academic years 2013 and 2018 and the international award of Best Professor in Petroleum and Oil & Gas Engineering for 2014 as well as being ranked one of the top 2% most influential researchers worldwide: Stanford University registered list for several years.
Prof. Khalifa Al-Jabri is a distinguished Professor in Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. He earned his BSc from Sultan Qaboos University and his MSc and PhD from The University of Sheffield, UK. Throughout his career, he has held various academic and administrative positions, including serving as the Head of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering. Notably, he was ranked among the world’s top 2% influential scientists by Stanford University and received “The Order of Royal Commendation (2nd class)” from the Sultan of Oman. Prof. Al-Jabri’s research focuses on material behavior at elevated temperatures, utilization of waste materials in civil engineering, seismic hazard assessment, and sustainable construction materials. He has published extensively and led numerous research projects, contributing significantly to his field. Additionally, he holds fellowships in prestigious engineering institutions and serves in key roles in international engineering bodies. Prof. Al-Jabri’s remarkable contributions are evident through his extensive citations and influential publications.
